UPDATE FROM LUD, JUNE, ‘26

I did two trips this past month: The first was to Greg and Judy’s and got to celebrate their three grandchildren getting dedicated to the Lord on Mother’s Day.  Also spent time with Jeff and Beth and their kids.  Then I spent another week at Debbie and Brad’s in GA and their daughters.  Much special food, good conversation, and time of relaxation.

I will be recording a video about the subject of “Reconciliation” scheduled for June 11.  Would appreciate prayer for that.

With June being a popular month for marriages, and with a realization of how many marriages are struggling to survive in our troubled culture, I thought I’d include one of our most popular radio scripts as a reminder of the importance of Biblical love in all of our relationships:

Some years ago, while preparing some comments for my daughter’s wedding, I put together some thoughts based on 1st Corinthians 13:4-8.  Here they are:

You have chosen to get married because you loved one another. Now you must love one another because you’ve chosen to be married.  Love was the catalyst that led to your choice.  Now, choice is the conveyor and cultivator of that love.

In times of stress love chooses to be patient.  In times of vulnerability love chooses to be kind.  In times of competition love chooses not to envy.  In times of victory love chooses not to boast.  In times of success love chooses not to be proud.  In times of embarrassment love chooses not to be rude.  In times of advantage love chooses not to be self-seeking. In times of disadvantage love chooses not to be easily angered.  In times of repeated inconsiderateness love chooses not to keep a record of wrongs.  In times when evil surfaces love chooses not to delight in it.  In times when truth prevails love chooses to rejoice in it.  In times of danger love chooses to protect.  In times of question love chooses to trust.  In times of disappointment love chooses to hope.  In times of despair love chooses to persevere.

Love never fails because it always chooses the welfare, wellbeing and worth of the one loved.  That is no doubt why Paul declared this to be the most excellent way.  If ever this kind of love is needed, it’s today, especially in our marriages, homes and in the church.”

Only Christians, relying on the Holy Spirit, are able to love this way consistently.                            ***********************************

Here are some recent emails I received:

Dear Pastor Lud, I listen to you on BBN 90.1 FM, weekdays at 8 am. I enjoy your messages. I really appreciate your insight of the Scripture passage each day. God certainly has given you a remarkable gift for conveying His Word.  I pray you are able to continue bringing positive messages each day. May the Lord bless you and keep you.  Denise

Lud , what a journey it has been over the last year and one half (Read it through in Two). Can hardly wait to do my study every day . Keep up the tremendous efforts for our Lord and Savior. Pray for you and your family every day. Miss seeing you . Blessings, Fred

Hello Lud!
I was doing a Philippians study in the WordGo app from BSF and one question early this morning asked who was instrumental in my life as a Christian. You and Mur were the first people who came to mind.
I want you to know how much you two meant to Steve and me when we lived in Ohio almost 4 decades ago. You welcomed us not only into FBC, but into your lives. You mentored Steve and stretched /challenged him and impacted our family deeply.
I still remember being in your family room chatting about wanting to be parents. I was crying and knew unconditional caring and compassion from you two. (We have 3 kids now and 2 granddaughters.) We’ve been through the valleys and green pastures; so very thankful for the place you took in our lives those many years ago and remain cherished today. The young faith we grew under your leadership and friendship are now our firm foundation.  Too many deeply held heart connections with you to put to paper. Thank you, Liz
