I would like to share with you some insights gained from doing a focus and amplify study of 1 Corinthians 2. As I read this chapter over a few times I felt that the focus of what is being said is that God wants us to know some amazing things about what He has planned for us who love Him.
What Paul says in this chapter, verse 9, is a quote from Isaiah 64:4: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” When I first really studied this chapter and came on this quote from Isaiah I stopped and reflected on what it said.
My conclusion was that what Paul was referring to was heaven. No human eye has seen what God has prepared in heaven for those who love Him. In addition, no human ear has heard the wonderful sounds of heaven. These too God has prepared for us who love Him. In fact, it’s beyond our mind to conceive what God has prepared in heaven for those who love Him. I started dreaming about what it’s going to be like.
Though what I was thinking may be true, that isn’t what this verse is primarily talking about. Why do I say this? Read the very next verse. Verse 10 says, “God has revealed it to us by his Spirit!” That’s why I say the focus of this chapter is God wants us to know in our daily, present experience what He has prepared for us who love Him.
Read the chapter over again and see how Paul amplifies this truth.
