We’ve started a focus and amplify study of the book of Romans.  The focus we identified was: The Key to Abundant Living.  In the introduction Paul said the key to abundant living is the Gospel.  Now let’s consider how he amplified this focus.

In Romans 1:18 through 3:20 Paul argues: all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.  This is the universal need for salvation.

Then in Romans 3:21 through chapter 6, Paul presents God’s answer to the sin problem: the adequate and available provision of salvation.

In chapters 7-8 Paul explains what is known as sanctification.  This describes the potential growth within salvation.

In chapters 9-11 Paul amplifies the historical setting in which our salvation and sanctification take place.  This section is parenthetical, yet it gives perspective on the plan of God in human history.

The final point Paul makes in chapter 12 through 15:14 (or through 16:24), amplifies how to integrate truth into daily behavior.  This is the practical outworking of salvation.  Paul gives snapshots of what it looks like to live in our kind of world as a saved person who is in process of being sanctified.

Once the focus of the book is amplified in these 5 main points Paul concludes the book.  You might come up with some different main points.  That’s fine, as long as they cover the truth found in the book of Romans.  We’ll continue this study in our subsequent visits.
