In our study of Acts 20 we identified a title, key verse, significant truth, cross- references, difficulties and some applications.  Now let’s develop an outline.

The Title we already identified: Paul, An Example of Faithful Ministry.  Three main points would be:  He encouraged believers in various cities (v. 1-12).  He enlightened both non-believers and believers (v.13-27).  And He equipped leaders to shepherd the church after he was not available to help anymore (v. 28-38).

You can amplify each point in this outline by adding sub-points.  The Conclusion: Paul passionately worked at his mission with a desire to finish well.

The final step in a chapter study is to make a summary statement.  Here is an example of what I mean: Paul exemplified what he wanted others to experience.  He wanted to help believers press on even if the going got rough.  He shared the truth of God any time, any place and with sincerity, no matter the cost to him.  To be sure that what he started in Ephesus would be carried on, he met with the leaders one final time to challenge them regarding the task and the goal towards which they should move.  Finally, the work of God will be done effectively, according to Jesus, by those who are more concerned with giving than they are about receiving.

When you do a chapter study like this you’ll remember it and be able to communicate truth found in it effectively.
