In our last visit we began a 4S study of Ezekiel 2 & 3.  We spread out what is found in these chapters and then sorted it and structured it into an outline.  The title I gave the outline was, How to prepare for our God appointed assignments.  Four points amplified the title, 1) Eat the Word of God, 2) Enjoy the Word of God, 3) Exhort others with the Word of God, and 4) Endure whatever opposition you might face from those you exhorted with God’s Word.

The fourth S or step in this study is to summarize what you learned into applications you can make to your own life.  The first application I would make to my own life is to eat God’s Word.  That is, take seriously the matter of reading and studying God’s Word.  This will take time and discipline.  Try to be regular in your reading and study.  Prayerfully try to understand what you read.  Anticipate enjoying God’s Word when you apply yourself to this discipline.  David agreed with Ezekiel, testifying that the Word of God was sweet to his taste, sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.

Once you experience the joy of God’s Word enlightening and energizing your life you’ll likely want to exhort others with what you’ve learned.  When you exhort others they might not find God’s Word as enjoyable or desirable as you do.  They might reject you and your message and attack you.  Don’t let that frighten you.  Endure it as a good soldier.  Be faithful.  God promises to be with you.
