As we’ve seen in our chapter study of Proverbs 3, when you follow God’s instructions on how to live life and bloom wherever you are planted, it’s a win/win experience.  What we found in this chapter is summed up in verses 5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight,” or as the King James version puts it, “he will direct your paths.” 

When you find a whole chapter summarized by two verses in the chapter it’d be wise to memorize those verses.  That way, you’ll remember the whole chapter by reflecting on them.  I memorized Proverbs 3:5-6 early in my Christian life, and they’ve been a guide and inspiration throughout my life. 

I challenge you to memorize them as a conclusion to our study.  Reflect on them when facing uncertain or unclear circumstances.  Then speak them to yourself as the Psalmist did in Psalm 42 and 43: “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”

Jeremiah did this in Lamentations 3:20-24, “My soul is downcast within me.  Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him.’”
