I have been encouraging you since the beginning of this year to take up the challenge of reading through the Bible over the next two years, reading on average two chapters a day.  If you’ve done this so far this year you should be ready to start reading the book of Deuteronomy.  In this book you’ll find that God provides all we need to carry out His will.

You’ve probably heard it said, “Where God guides He provides.”  This is exemplified in Deuteronomy.  Notice chapter 2 verse 7: “The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands.  He has watched over your journey through this vast desert.  These forty years the Lord your God has been with you and you have not lacked anything!”

As you read Deuteronomy notice throughout Israel’s wilderness wanderings how God abundantly provided for them.  He gave them spiritual support through His law, moral support by repeating His promise to give them Canaan, protection by pledging His own presence and power, and guidance through Moses and Joshua.

God’s provisions were abundant and all-embracing.  His provisions are determined by our needs.  Our needs are determined by our physical, social and spiritual circumstances.  And these, in turn, are determined by our obedience to God’s guidance.

Yes, and even when we at times are unfaithful, He remains faithful.  It’s true, where God guides He provides.  Keep this truth in mind as you read the book of Deuteronomy.
