Today I’d like to introduce you to a few of those God used to help me grow in my Christian life.
I don’t remember much from my Sunday School days, but I do remember one class taught by Mr. Heine. He was teaching us about temptation using Paul’s statement in 1st Corinthians 10:13. “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” Mr. Heine told us, the way of escape is “Jesus.” Whenever tempted, he said, just say to yourself, “Jesus.” That will remind you of the one who saved you and wants to continue to deliver you from evil. I praise God for Mr. Heine, who taught me this basic truth. I’ve never forgotten it.
Over the years God used YFC to influence my life for Christ. I drifted into compromise for a number of years after receiving Christ. When I came back to Christ I got involved in YFC, sang in the choir at Saturday night rallies and gave my testimony there. I was encouraged by other Christian teens and challenged by the director.
