These word pictures characterize the voice of the Lord. I call this imaging. Imagine the voice of the Lord thundering with power and majesty, breaking, striking, shaking, twisting and stripping. As a minister I desire for God to work in me and through me. When I speak from the Word of God my prayer is that people will sense the voice of the Lord, described in Psalm 29, as making an impact on them.
I want to have happen what Paul describes in 1 Thessalonians 1:5, and 2:13 “Our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction…when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God.”
Take time to read Psalm 29:3-9, then use it to pray for God’s servants, that they might be clear channels through which God’s dynamic voice will be heard.
