In our last visit we discovered in Romans 1:18-20 that you can discover God’s eternal power and divine nature through natural revelation. Because of this men everywhere, even in the remotest parts of the world, are without excuse.

Psalm 19 shows how this happens: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”

People everywhere observe brilliant sunrises and sunsets. And at night they see the dazzling array of stars and planets. If they track what they see they will discover there is order and design evident everywhere. And since what is, is so grand – the mountains, the sea and the brilliant sun, moon and stars, it is plain that there is someone behind all of this, and that someone has eternal power and is divine.

Philosophers have called this The First Cause, The Prime Mover, or The World Soul, because they sensed there has to be something or someone bigger than what may be observed in the tangible world that made it happen, that ordered it. We keep on discovering more and more of what is. There are more and more stars and galaxies out there in space. And they are seeing the minute detail, order and design of the smallest particle.

Let me encourage you to make time as the Psalmist did in Psalm 139:14, to simply observe how fearfully and wonderfully we as human beings were fashioned, and then praise God for this work of His hands.
