1/1/2014

As we begin 2014 let me express my sincerest wishes for God to grant you a blessed and fruitful New Year. One way to assure this is to read and study God’s Word.

Listen to what John wrote while exiled on the Isle of Patmos: “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it because the time is near” (Revelation 1:2). This blessing was promised for those who read and/or hear the words written in the Book of Revelation. But the principle is repeated throughout the Bible. Psalm 1:1-3 declares, “Blessed is the man…(whose) delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”

To get a picture of why the Psalmist encourages this kind of discipline take some time to read Psalm 119. Listen to just a few verses from that Psalm: “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts” (verses 97-100).

I have a booklet that focuses on the major practical principle I discovered in each book of the Bible. I’d like to send it to you to encourage you to read through the Bible in two years – two chapters a day. Contact me by clicking on the contact link or email me, ludgolz@aol.com.
