Update, October ’19

October 18th, 2019

We’ve had quite an eventful month. We celebrated our 60th anniversary by going on a cruise from Boston to Montreal. It included a conference with Joel Rosenberg, author of best-selling novels on the Middle East and prophetic themes. We had some amazing conversations with other participants, including a Moody classmate of 63 years ago!
The final of three messages you prayed for at the New Promise church in Kirtland went well. Thanks for praying. I also had the privilege of speaking at the staff chapel service at Bible Broadcast Network in Charlotte, NC last Monday. What a wonderful, multi-cultural group of about 70 from all over the world. BBN broadcasts in 9 languages. I was able to discuss and pray with some involved in broadcasting my program. Please pray for them and especially for my program going out in four of those languages. Another network that caries my program, VCY America, has a station in Los Alamos, NM, that has recently acquired 9 translators. Seven of them are in NM and began broadcasting on 8/23/19 and two of them are in CO and began broadcasting on 9/26/19.
While in North Carolina Mur was at the baby shower of our 7th great grandchild, due in mid-December, while I watched a granddaughter from Georgia play in a lacrosse tournament which her team won! We had some great conversations with members of our family we don’t often see. What a privilege. In a few weeks we will have time with other family members at the wedding of our grandson Stephen to Annie, in Colorado Springs, CO. Please pray for safe travel.

When you can make some time, reflect on a couple of notes from my message at BBN last Monday.
Notice the word “through” mentioned 5 times in the first four verses of 2 Peter 1. Think of it as representing a channel from God’s infinite supply of grace with a valve that you control. You can open the valve partially or fully to experience the flow of His grace into your, or keep it closed.
1. You receive faith “through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ” (verse 1)
2. You receive “grace and peace…in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord” (verse 2)
3. You receive “everything (you) need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (verse 3)
4. You receive ‘his very great and precious promises” through Christ’s glory and goodness. That means his promises are as good as who he is. (verses 3-4)
5. You may “participate in the divine nature,” that is, you can experience the presence, power, fruit and guidance of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and “escape (by fleeing) the corruption in the world caused by evil desires” through the very great and precious promises. (verse 4)
Open the valve so that God can pour into and through you all He has available and is ready to supply
