I always find it interesting to see how God sets the stage for our being used to help others. On another flight to Europe I was sitting in an isle seat and my wife had the window seat.
Once settled we observed a young guy take his seat right in front of me. Soon he was asked if he would be willing to exchange seats across the isle so a couple could sit together. Again, after getting settled he was asked to exchange with the man across the isle from me. That opened the door for us to start a conversation that led to my sharing the gospel with him.
To my surprise he shared that he had his flight cancelled the night before and was put up in a hotel by the airport. Feeling lonely and bored he pulled out the Bible in the nightstand in his room and read the opening pages where there was a presentation of the gospel.
When I suggested a prayer he could make to receive Jesus Christ into his life he said he had prayed the prayer suggested in the Bible the night before! That opened the door for me to help him understand the Christian faith and how he could grow in his new relationship with Jesus. He had many questions I was able to answer. I suggested Bible portions for him to read as well as some resources he could turn to, to clarify issues he would probably encounter.
After talking and praying with him during the six hour flight I got his home address and phone number since we were going to be traveling close to his family’s home. We talked to him on the phone when we passed by a week later to encourage him. What a blessing to see how God orchestrated all this.
