Though I am free from all men, yet have I made myself a servant to all, that I might save the more. (1 Corinthians 9:19)

Times of transition can be unsettling.  Getting preoccupied dealing with all the things involved in a time of transition can keep you from some important things necessary to stay spiritually alive.  Probably the most basic stabilizing element in your spiritual life is making sure that what you do is Biblically based.

Jesus lived this way.  As you read the Gospel records you’ll find a phrase repeated many times.  It reads something like this:  "This was done," or "this was said,' or "he went there, so that what the prophets said would be fulfilled."  The Bible was Jesus’ map and mandate for life.  He lived to fulfill God's Word.

Paul did the same thing.  His driving passion to reach the un-reached was based on a prophecy by Isaiah according to Romans 15:20-21.  My passion for ministry is based on my life's verse, 1 Corinthians 9:19, "Though I am free from all men, yet have I made myself a servant to all, that I might save the more."   In addition, Colossians 1:28-29 and Ephesians 4:11-13.

My mother's passion was to see her children and grandchildren walking with God and then having a good relationship with each other.  In her words: "Keep family together and in Christ."  Psalm 78 is a Biblical basis for her passion.  What is your Biblical basis for the things important to you, that occupy your time and drain your energy?  God's truth frees you to pursue those things that please God.  And there is no better reason for doing what you're doing than that.

State the Biblical basis for the things you are spending your time and energy on?
