If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, then this Christmas should be for you a day of Thanksgiving and Worship and Praise. Let Him know how much you love and appreciate Him. Let Him know you want to serve Him faithfully. Let Him know you want others to share in the Christmas joy you know personally.

That’s what the shepherds did when they had the joy of meeting Him that first Christmas. It says in Luke 2:17, “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them...The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen.”

In Matthew chapter 2 you have the same dynamic as seen in the experience of the wise men from the east. They told what they knew before they saw the baby Jesus, but when they saw Him they worshipped Him and gave Him gifts.

It says in Luke 2:19 that “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” That would also be an appropriate way to respond to the gift of God to you. Think of all Jesus left in heaven to come to be born of Mary to become our Savior.

Think of how unworthy you are for Him to do this for you, and yet revel in the fact that by grace God has done it. Reflect deeply over the truth that God loves you, and as an expression of that love, has given you His best, His only Son.

Take time to treasure and ponder these truths in your heart and mind. Then give yourself afresh to Him as your Christmas gift to Him.
