It takes the wisdom and grace of God to learn how to grow old and stay useful! God never planned for Christians to vegetate beyond a certain age.

Read Titus 2:1-8 and see how older men and women are to be mature, weathered examples of the life God intends for all of us to live. Out of their past, they should have a full reservoir of experiences to pass on to younger believers facing similar struggles.

Paul makes a special point that younger women are to seek counsel from older women. Many men of God have been led astray while trying to help a distraught or misdirected younger woman who could have been helped far better by an older Christian woman.

If you feel you have done your years of duty and now you have a right to relax and drop out, you are robbing God of what He requires of you. In addition you are robbing younger people of what your knowledge and experience have to offer. Don’t be a dropout. Everything God has taken you through is to be the basis of helping others.

Listen to what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

You might not think the younger generation is willing to listening to you. But I can assure you they are watching you. Ask the Spirit to guide you, whenever a teachable moment opens, to share truth with others out of the rich reservoir of your life experiences.
