As I mentioned in our last visit leaders in Youth for Christ had a positive influence in my growth as a Christian, and in my preparation for ministry as an adult.
Over the years I was able to mentor many in YFC all over the world. During a month of teaching in the country of Sri Lanka I met with the staff of YFC every morning. We studied the Bible together, shared concerns and prayed for each other. I shared with them some personal and management principles. All of these young men became leaders in the church and in various ministries. One even became the President of YFC International.
My first associate as a pastor went on to found YFC in Louisville, which became a very effective ministry for Christ. Where I now pastor we’ve had the privilege of working with and helping YFC for over 25 years. We have had the privilege of encouraging, equipping and providing support for the leaders in this ministry during those years. Three of the directors have been from our church.
As I have prayed for these young men and poured my life into theirs I have received much more in return. I am blessed every time I hear about how God is using them, the young people who are coming to Christ, and those who are growing and going on to serve Christ in full time ministry either with YFC or in other ministries. Much of my growth as a Christian has come through my involvement with YFC and I praise God for this organization and those within it that have blessed me.
