Do you ever feel that God is putting you off when you come to Him with a prayer request? Then read Mark 7:24-30.

A Greek woman from Syrian Phoenicia had a demon possessed daughter. She came to Jesus, fell at His feet and begged Him to drive the demon out of her daughter. Listen to Jesus' response to her in Mark 7:27. "First let the children eat all they want, for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." That was a strong turn off. But she listened to Jesus words very carefully and saw a ray of light. She humbly pled in verse 28, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs." She was saying, "OK, I'll take crumbs that fall off the table."

She accepted Jesus' implication that she was like a dog. She didn't argue as most of us would. "What do you mean? I'm a human being? I'm not a dog. How can you be so callused? You're bigoted!" Rather, with humility she pled her case, asking for His help. "If I'm like a dog to you, can I just have the crumbs that fall off the table where the privileged children are eating?" What faith. Just give me the crumbs. That'll meet my request.

When going to God in prayer would you be satisfied with crumbs? Her faith was rewarded by Jesus because she believed that even the crumbs off the table are adequate to meet her need. Here is an amazing example of what Jesus taught in the parable of the mustard seed: though it is the smallest of all seeds, when it grows it becomes the largest of garden plants.

Kingdom faith sees the potential of even the crumbs that fall off the table. Remember, God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20-21). Trust Him.
