The wonder of God’s love.  The wonder of God’s wisdom.  The wonder of God’s plan.  The wonder of the announcement to the shepherds that first Christmas night.  The wonder of a feeding trough in a cave to cradle the Christ-child.  The wonder of humble, God honoring parents too poor to prepare for a more appropriate setting for the birth of this special child. 

The wonder of God in a body; a little, helpless body, that night.  The wonder of the potential hidden in that life, waiting to explode on the historical scene.  The world would never be the same again.  God’s Word would have a greater basis of authority.  Hope’s light was kindled and would shine brighter from that day forward. 

The foundation of the enemies’ strategies began to be shaken.  From this point forward he was on the defensive.  The coffin for his game plan was being built, waiting for the final two nails to be driven in the lid: Christ’s death and resurrection.  Put in Paul’s devastating words in Colossians 2:15, “Having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” 

All of this and more began to happen that special day over 2,000 years ago.  The more I think of it the more I want to declare, the wonder of it all.  Do you agree?  Then take time to praise and thank God for this indescribable gift.
