It is time for us to consider the ultimate expression of the grace of God as found in the book of Galatians. It is found in Galatians 4:4-7, “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’ So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.”
Time to God is eternally now, seeing and understanding the past and the future in the present – He knows the end from the beginning and everything in between, in the present. We are creatures of space and sequential time. God adapted His eternal plan to be played out in sequential time. At the appointed time God sent His Son. The word sent means “sent one,” like an apostle, commissioned with full credentials, to represent the one doing the sending. He is sent out from the presence of the one he represents.
Where Jesus was sent from is a different state than the one to which He was sent. He was Spirit before. Now He took on Himself humanity, born of a woman. This was a miraculous birth in that the woman was a virgin. This conception took place as a result of an act of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus was human in all respects, yet remained fully God. Though identified with all of humanity, in a unique way He was born under the law, thus Jewish. He lived His life subject to the law until He was crucified and resurrected. Since then, He and those following Him are now free.
