As we continue our study of the book of Habakkuk we are now familiar enough with the contents of the book to develop an outline.  When I did this I came up with two titles: “The Heart and Life of an Intercessor,” or “Authentic in Life and Service.”

As I began developing main points for the outline I decided on the second title.  Under this title I came up with three points:

1. An Authentic personal relationship with God.

2. Authentic prayers to God.

3. An Authentic proclamation for God.

Then I put all of this into a summary or concluding statement: To embody the message is essential if you want to communicate it with authenticity and authority.  Habakkuk was impacted deeply by the message he was commissioned by God to deliver to the people.

As I prayed for our nation and for the church of Christ over the last half year God continued to bring me back to this book.  I don’t know how many times I read it and I already shared some of how it has impacted me.  Let me now begin sharing what I’ve discovered as I amplify the outline I just shared with you.

I want to point out, however, that what I will be sharing is relevant not just for those who are in a position of leadership, but for all true followers of God.  If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord you are an ambassador for Him in your world.  What the watching world sees in you will either turn them on or off about following Jesus Christ.  So learn from the life of Habakkuk what is involved in being authentic in life and service.
