All the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them.  (Romans 16:4)

In our last visit we began a biographical study of the life of Priscilla and Aguila mentioned in Romans 16:3-5.  They are also mentioned in Acts 18 where we find they were in Corinth when Paul arrived there.  It refers to them as Jews, Aquila originally from Pontus in Asia Minor, and both of them recently coming from Rome because of the edict of Claudius that all Jews were to leave Rome.  Paul heard of them and visited them, “and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.”

Later they traveled with Paul to Ephesus where Paul left them while he went on to Israel.  An Alexandrian Jew, named Apollos, came to Ephesus.  “He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures.”  His knowledge, however, was limited to the Old Testament and the ministry and baptism of John the Baptist.  When Priscilla and Aquila heard him speak boldly in the synagogue, “they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.”  This prepared him to be even more effective for God.

It is clear from 1 Corinthians 16:19 that Priscilla and Aquila were successful in Ephesus, since they had a home big enough for the church to meet in their home.  When Paul mentioned them in Romans 16 as being in Rome again they must have returned after Claudius’ death in AD 54.

Now that we have collected the information about their lives as found in the Bible try correlating this information into some points that describe them.
