Now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to see you, I plan to do so when I go to Spain.  (Romans 15 23-24)

Sometimes while struggling with an experience you might like to get some insight from God's word on how to cope with it.  How do you go about doing that?

I would suggest you start by getting out your concordance and seeing whether there is anything listed under that topic.  If you don't find anything there, try to identify a more general theme and look again.  Sometimes I remember from a previous study an experience that a Bible character had that is similar to what I'm going through.  By restudying that portion I often find help for my own situation.

A number of years ago I did this while going through a time of transition.  Actually, our church was going through a time of transition as well.  You see, I was the Sr. Pastor in this church for 25 years.  I was in the group who started the church.  We had a great time together, seeking the Lord for guidance and seeing Him answer prayer and do some wonderful things in the lives of many.  He not only worked through us in our community, but right from the start we had a strong missionary vision and commitment.

For some time I felt a need to plan for the passing of the baton of leadership to someone new.  As we moved in this direction we were all stretched.  We experienced the test and trauma of transition.  Paul was experiencing the same at the time of writing Romans 15-16.

Ask God to help you learn from Paul how to cope effectively while in transition.
