We’ve been studying the Book of Titus in recent visits. Let’s continue by using a different study approach. I call it a devotional study. After reading Titus try answering these questions: What does this portion teach about God the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit? What does it teach about man? Are there any warnings to heed? Are there any commands to obey? Are there any promises to claim by faith?
First, list references where these subjects are found. Then answer the questions. When you complete this, draw some conclusions you can apply to your life or to the lives of others.
For example, I found the following truths about God the Father in the book of Titus. He has given His Word. In His Word are promises. He cannot lie. He elects those who are saved. His salvation is provided through His grace, truth, kindness, love and mercy. I’ll remember these truths about God better by organizing them into an outline: His character. His promises. His provision.
Reflecting on what I learned about God I made the following applications to my life. I should make it a practice to thank and praise Him for Who He is: One who is gracious, kind, loving, merciful and true. Some of His promises might be hard for me to believe, but knowing He cannot lie should help me.
I need to study what He graciously provides as stated in His word to get comfort and guidance. This’ll give me confidence to face every new challenge.
