In recent visits we have done an inductive Bible Study of John 9. I gave the study the title: Don’t Miss The Opportunity! The three points illustrated in the chapter would be: opportunity everywhere, opportunity ebbing and opportunity ended.
These three points are valuable to keep in mind if you are in school. When you get an assignment you have every opportunity to gather information and time to work on it. The longer you put off the assignment the opportunity will ebb away. If you put it off too long it will end.
Businessmen and will find this true in the business world as well. Opportunities don’t wait around for sluggards. The earlier you buy up the opportunity the more likely you will succeed.
This principle is also true for parents who want to make a positive impact on their children. When a child is born you have a lifetime to impact their lives. If you’re too busy and put it off till later you will find the opportunity ebbing away. If you wait too long your opportunity to impact your child’s life will tragically end. Many parents discover this too late.
Teach them the Word of God when they’re young. They will remember it better then. Pray with them, not just for them. Take them to church and be faithful in your participation in church as well. They are never too young to get them started. It is always a loss, if you put it off. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 6:2, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
