Today I want to share one final application based on our study of Malachi.  To do the things we’ve already mentioned we need each other as fellow believers.

I recently mentioned that a chain is as strong as its weakest link. Ecclesiastes 4:9&12 says, “Two are better than one…Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

This is seen throughout the book of Malachi.  The failure of the priests impacted not only them but the whole nation.  Breaking faith with God resulted in breaking faith with one another.  This caused them to break faith with the wives of their youth, and this negatively impacted their children.

To counter “breaking faith,” a remnant who feared the Lord got together and talked with each other.  Their concern related to their fear of God and their desire to see His name honored, in their own hearts and in the nation.

God listened and heard their heart throb.  It thrilled Him to see how so few tackled the challenge of turning the nation around spiritually.  They believed that a small group, plus God, is a majority, a winning team.  When the final curtain falls they will not be forgotten.  They’ll be known as God’s treasured possession.  Would you qualify as one of them?  Do you encourage others to join you to be one of God’s treasured possession?
