In our last visit we began a chapter study of Luke 24.  We started by identifying a title: He opened their minds!  The key verse I chose was 27.

The next step is to write a summary statement: Jesus is ready to meet you at your lowest or most confusing moment to help you understand what God said in His Word and wants to do in and through you.

Follow this with listing any questions you have about what is said in the chapter.  Here are some I had: How does Jesus do this in our day?  Another: why was it so hard for the disciples to believe that Jesus arose even after He appeared to them?  Also, what was the nature of Christ’s physical body after He was resurrected?  He suddenly appeared and just as suddenly disappeared.  The disciples could see and feel His flesh and bones, hands and feet.  He also ate food.  Take time to reflect on these.  You might not come up with clear answers, but note them and keep an eye and ear open.

Answers sometimes come in unexpected ways in the future.  To help possibly find answers check out cross references like Matthew 28, Mark 16, John 20 and 21, and Acts 1.  In Acts 1 Luke says, “After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.  He appeared to them over a period of forty days.”

Doing this kind of research takes time, but it helps in processing the information you gather and prepares you to organize it into an outline.  That’s the next step in a chapter study.
