In our last visit we considered the implications of the promise in Proverbs 3:6, “He will make your paths straight,” or “direct your paths.”  It requires us to trust in God with all our heart, not lean on our own understanding and in all our ways acknowledge Him.

That shouldn’t be hard, but it is, if He directs our paths in a way that doesn’t seem straight or right to us.  Why is it so hard when the outcome described in Proverbs 3 is so good?  Dr. Warren Wiersbe expounds on it in his commentary of the Old Testament.  You’ll find wisdom, which leads to true wealth.  He writes, “It’s good to have the things money can buy, provided you don’t lose the things money can’t buy…What good is an expensive house if there’s no happy home within it.”

You’ll also experience living in harmony with God’s creation.  You’ll discover “the Father’s providential care…because (as) God directs our path He is able to protect our path.”

You’ll experience “a positive relationship with others.”  After describing ways to relate to neighbors and friends, and even those who might make it hard for us, he says, “It’s possible to have a godly home in the midst of an ungodly neighborhood, for God ‘blesses the home of the righteous.’”

He also promises to “give peace to the humble,” and “The wise inherit honor.”

In other words, when you follow God’s instructions on how to live life and bloom wherever you are planted, it’s a win/win experience.
