When facing trials and temptations we overcome by keeping in mind what is stated in Hebrews 4:14-16. Let’s do a focus and amplify study of these verses. The focus is; With Jesus we can make it! This is amplified as follows:
1. Notice what we are – week, tempted and needy.
2. Notice what is true of Jesus, our great high priest – He was tempted in every way, just as we are, yet He overcame, remaining without sin. He also was enthroned in heaven.
3. Notice what we can do when we face temptations and trials – confidently approach the throne of grace. When we do, we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. With that confidence, hold firmly to the faith we profess. Our high priest will empathize with our weaknesses. He knows all about us and our circumstances. We don’t face anything He didn’t face while here on earth.
We too can overcome whatever we face if we acknowledge what is true about us – we’re weak, tempted and needy. Then, look to Jesus, who was tempted in every way we are, yet triumphed over sin. Worship Him as the enthroned Son of God, and with your eyes on Jesus and your heart devoted to Him confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in your time of need.
Hold firmly to the faith you profess. I believe you’ll see God give you victory and the experience will strengthen and mature you to face whatever challenges come your way in the future. Count on it.
