In a church, those in leadership need to look for reliable, faithful participants in their church.  When they find such people they need to enlarge their sphere of experience, to see if they’re can handle it.  Then they need to equip and empower them to assume some responsibilities.

Or, if you see potential in someone, reach out to start a relationship with them.  As that develops ask if they are willing to commit to growing in their faith walk.  Start the process of their becoming a reliable, faithful Christian.

As you see growth suggest that they volunteer to work in a given project.  See if they take initiative to join a Bible Study or prayer group and be faithful in their participation?  Encourage them to ask someone they respect as a godly person to disciple them?  When Barnabas took Paul under his wing he found him to be reliable, faithful.  Paul was willing to go the extra mile.

Barnabas poured his life into Mark, who dropped out on his first missionary trip.  Under his tutelage Mark became a reliable man, who eventually became a leader others respected and trusted, and God used him to extend His kingdom.  He wrote the Gospel of Mark!

We need to remember, God can use anyone who becomes a reliable, faithful follower of Christ?  Ask yourself, am I willing to become a part of this maturing, equipping process?  I sure hope so, because the church needs an increasing number of leaders, and leaders come out of the pool of reliable faithful believers.
