We’ve now read and studied the major prophetical books of the Old Testament.  As a change of pace, let’s read and study the book of Acts in the New Testament.  Then we’ll return to the minor prophets before reading and studying Romans through the rest of the New Testament.  We plan to complete this project, read it thru in two, by the end of the year.  My prayer is that this will be used by God to prepare us to walk in the light of God’s Word daily.

Christ’s great mission was to seek and to save the lost.  How He did this is described in the four Gospels we’ve already covered.  Acts records what He continued to do through the work of the Holy Spirit.

When one who is lost is saved he becomes a member of Christ’s Church.  In Acts we find out how this process began and continued until representatives from all parts of the Roman world were a part of the Church.  Starting with chapter 9 the focus is on Paul.  You’ll also discover that Jesus Christ used anyone—man, woman or young person—who made themselves available to the Holy Spirit for service.

You’ll find the secret of success in this development was the Church taking her witness into the world where the lost are found.  The Church today must rediscover that Jesus Christ is not looking for ability nor inability, as much as He’s looking for availability.  C.E. Autrey is right in urging us to give the Church a chance to breathe by going outside.
