One of the most important statements Jesus made is found in John 14:6: “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14 begins with Jesus describing His plan to go back to the Father in heaven, prepare places for all who would believe in Him, and return to take them to be with Him when they die or at the Rapture.  When Jesus said, “You know the way to the place where I am going,” Thomas responded, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”  He was thinking geography.  Jesus was talking about a relationship with Him.  He is the way.

This is not just a comforting idea, this is absolute truth.  If you come to Jesus you won’t be disappointed or deceived.  This is more than a promise.  It’s a person standing behind the promise.  He is the truth.  He also is the life.  This is more than mere existence.  When you trust in Jesus He is your life.

Paul referred to this reality as “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”  This threefold reality in Christ, “I am the way and the truth and the life,” is the only basis for having a relationship with God the Father - “no one comes to the Father except through me.”

Peter declared in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”  This way to God is exclusive - no other way, no other name - but it’s also inclusive, all who come to the Father by trusting in Jesus Christ are accepted.  Make sure you are trusting in Him.
