As mentioned yesterday, we’re now into the Old Testament book of Isaiah.  I trust as you read your heart will be challenged, stimulated and motivated to bring honor and glory to the God of Israel.  He is revealed in the book of Isaiah as the “Just Judge”.  You’ll find this in a verse I’d encourage you to memorize, Isaiah 33:22, “For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us.”  This verse captures the theme of the book.

William Penn once said, “Right is right even if everyone is against it and wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it.”

Isaiah illustrates this as he speaks of the justice of God in his dealings with man.  He points out that the Lord is our Judge, our Lawgiver and our King.  He alone will save us.  As our king He has the right to judge us, as our lawgiver He knows how to rightly judge us, and as our judge He deals righteously.

The reprobate are judged because they don’t know God and are not interested in knowing Him.  The rebellious are judged because they know God and His purpose but reject them both.  The religious professors are judged because they come to God with religious ceremony but with hearts that are far from Him.

God judges but He overshadows His judgment with His grace, tempered by His love.  As He punishes He purifies, and as He purifies He works out His divine plan.  As you read this book I trust you’ll be led to trust in the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and through Him find true peace with the Just Judge.
