On a number of occasions I’ve been asked to counsel women regarding inconvenient or unwanted pregnancies. In each case I encouraged them to carry the child and give birth to the life God was forming within them. What would you counsel someone if they came to you with that issue? What would you say if they asked for your advice?
Listen to these words in the Book of Proverbs, 24:11-12, “Rescue those being led away to death, hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, ‘but we knew nothing about this.’ Does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will He not repay each person according to what he has done?”
Basically, the emphasis here is that each one of us is responsible before God to give an answer in keeping with God’s truth and righteousness. Do what you can to hinder killing the unprotected and innocent, for you will be called to give an accounting before God.
Pray for women facing tough choices and consequences that come as a result of an unwanted pregnancy. Do what you can to assist them after they have made their choice for life. And frankly, if they choose to get an abortion, we need to love them and offer a message of forgiveness so they can be forgiven and find meaning and purpose in life as God intended for all of us to know.
You can’t make decisions for someone else, but you can share God’s truth and righteousness by lovingly telling them what God says in Proverbs 24:11-12.
