As we begin the New Year I’m sure we’ll remember both fond and negative experiences we had last year and realize we’ll face similar opportunities and challenges this year.  To continue getting help from the Bible I trust one goal you’ll set will be to continue reading through God’s Word in two years.  We’ve already read and studied about half of the Bible.  Now we’ll continue to read and study the second half.  To start we’ll read the book of Proverbs.

I remember hearing how businessman Herbert J. Taylor developed what is known as the Four-Way Test, to make his company known for character, dependability, and service-mindedness of the personnel. This is the Four-Way Test: Is it the truth?  Is it fair to all concerned?  Will it build good-will and better friendships?  Will it benefit all concerned?

As you read Proverbs note how these points are amplified and applied to daily life.  You’ll probably find other practical points as well.  I understand Billy Graham made it a practice to read five Psalms and one chapter of the book of Proverbs every day.  He testifies that the book of Proverbs has helped him understand how to relate to others better.

God explains that what you get out of life depends on what you put into it.  Order your life according to God’s guidelines and your life will be pleasing to God, meaningful to you, and beneficial to others.  I chose Proverbs 23:23 as the key verse,, “Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.”  Let this verse guide you daily.
