We’ve been studying the book of Luke this month as part of our project of reading through the Bible in two years.  We’ve read Genesis through Psalms and Matthew, Mark and Luke this year.  I trust you’ve found the reading and our studies helpful in understanding God’s Word better and finding applications that are relevant to your daily life.  If you’ve not followed along with us let me encourage you to start as we go back to the book of Proverbs.

But before leaving the Gospel of Luke, I’d like to make a few more observations.  At the close of Luke you find Jesus with the disciples, convincing them that He indeed was alive.  He reminded them of what He had told them in the past.  In Luke 24:45 it says, “he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.”

This is an impact statement.  It would be a good verse to memorize and then make it your prayer whenever you read or study the Bible.  It would be a good prayer to offer before reading and studying the Bible, or as you go to church or participate in a Bible study group.  Pray, “God, please open my mind as Jesus did with His disciples so I might understand Your Word better.”  I believe you’d find this helpful in preparing your heart and mind, as well as prompt you to respond in obedience and faith to what He helps you understand.
