Do you have a hard time understanding the Word of God, the Bible? If you do, consider this. The Word of God will not make sense to you, no matter how diligently you study it, if you have not become spiritually alive.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:14, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Paul also said in Romans 8:9, “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”
To belong to Christ you must trust in Him. He came to die for our sins and was raised from the dead according to 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. He is alive and wants to become your Savior and Lord. In prayer, tell Him you trust in Him and in what He has done for you. Tell Him you want to belong to Him and be filled with His Spirit. When you take this step of faith, He will make you spiritually alive. Paul describes it this way in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ.”
Then you will find the Bible to be a Living Book with a living message. And getting the message from God’s Word will become a lifetime adventure.
Again, let me encourage anyone who has not received Jesus Christ as their Savior to do so right now. Pray with me, “Jesus, I know I’m a sinner. I want you to be my Savior. Come into my life and take over. Make me the person you want me to be.”
