If you find the world around you in a hopeless, sinful state, with the judgment of God hanging over everything, what should you do?  Josiah became king of Judah at 8 years of age.  He found himself in just such a situation.  He had a heart for God. By age 26 he decided something needed to be done.

Let’s do a focus and amplify study of 2 Kings 22 and 23.  I determined the focus to be, Delaying God’s Judgment.  I amplified this focus with 3 points: Seek God, Surrender to God and Share God.

Under seeking God you find Josiah repairing the temple and God responded by having the workers find God’s Word, verse 8; it was heard, verse 11; he sought to understand it, verse 13.

Under point 2, he surrendered to God when God’s Word was explained, verse 15, he was responsive and humble, verse 19; and he was obedient, verse 11.  He turned to the Lord with all his heart, soul and strength according to what he found in God’s Word: 23:25

Under point 3, Sharing God, he gathered all the people and read the Word to them, 23:2; he renewed the Covenant, verse 3; he removed and destroyed anything associated with false worship, chapter 23; and he celebrated the Passover for the first time since judges began to lead, v. 21-23.

A revival broke out in those days under Josiah’s leadership.  God’s judgment had been pronounced, but it was delayed, because one man sought God, surrendered to Him, and shared Him with others.  Question!  Would God do the same because of what He sees in your heart?
