I hope you have accepted the challenge to Read it Through in Two, that is, read through the Bible in two years.  If you have, and have read about 2 chapters a day in the book of Genesis since this year began, you are ready to start reading the book of Exodus.  If you haven’t, let me encourage you to join us now in our reading and study of Exodus.

No one likes to be caught in a crisis.  At times, however, it’s the best thing that could happen to us.  God often leads us right into such circumstances.  Why?  To teach us about His power to deliver.

Exodus vividly portrays Israel’s deliverance from bondage.  Their exodus, however, was followed by tragedy.  They soon forgot God’s power to deliver was available for their daily needs.  They grumbled when they should’ve given thanks.  We must learn that God will lead us into victory when we continually rely on Him and give thanks in all things.

Memorize Exodus 14:13-14 to remember this truth: “Do not be afraid.  Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.  The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

As you read Exodus, two chapters a day, keep this truth in mind and see how Israel experienced it in both a corrective way, through the judgments and the Passover, and in a protective way, through the giving of the law and the building of the tabernacle.  God was thorough in His dealings with both Egypt and Israel making sure they’d both recognize Him and His power.
