If you haven’t taken up the challenge I've shared to read through the Bible over the next two years, let me again encourage you to Read it through in two!  Read 2 chapters a day.  For the next few days I will be focusing on the early chapters of Genesis to lay a foundation for what follows.

In Genesis you’ll find various portrayals of God.  God’s Word, the Bible, begins with God Himself – “In the beginning God.”  Then throughout its pages it presents Him in the place of preeminence.  He will not share His glory with another.  Sometimes He takes extreme measures to fulfill His plan.  But the end result is always the same: God is praised for Who He is and what He has done.

As each of these books is introduced I’ll share something about God that you can look for as you read that book.  This will help you concentrate and you’ll find many other things that otherwise you might miss.  These glimpses of God generate faith and interest in the God who worked miracles in days past.  They provide footholds for our faith as we climb over the rugged terrain of daily circumstances.  They are a stabilizing force in our unstable world.  We can’t go on without Him.

As you read through the books at a pace of about 2 chapters a day I will highlight some truths that have impressed me and show you how to study and get a better grasp of the truths that interest you.  I trust you’ll find this adventure one that enriches your understanding and experience of truth and enhances your relationship with God.  So begin reading Genesis and join us whenever you can as we together “read it through in  two!”
