An impact statement you find in Jonah 2:9 surfaces throughout the Bible: “Salvation comes from the Lord!” That’s not a hard truth to memorize. Grab hold of it. Never let it go. Remind yourself often of this simple, yet profound impact statement - “Salvation comes from the Lord.” When you look at the context where you find this impact statement its truth is vividly illustrated. Jonah found himself in dire straits in the belly of a great fish in the Mediterranean Sea. His life was ebbing away. Desperately he cried out to God for help. God heard and answered his prayer. Jonah describes it in verse 6: “You brought my life up from the pit.” That’s an understatement. The Pit was a hopeless condition from which there was no escape. Only God could save him. Only God could deliver him. Only God could bring his life up from that pit. And, as usual, it took a miracle. Jonah 2:10 says, “The Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land!” I don’t know the circumstances you find yourself in. But I do know that if you cry out to God in prayer he will listen and answer. His answer will be what you need. It will free you to become useful to God for the benefit of others. Jonah wasn’t going to do the people of Nineveh any good while rebelling against God, nor while trapped in the belly of the great fish. But once delivered, he was able to share God’s message and many were saved from destruction. Always remember this impact statement, “Salvation comes from the Lord.”>
