We’ve reviewed in recent visits the larger context of what Paul said to the elders of the church of Ephesus recorded in Acts 20:17-21:1. There were some dramatic events and outcomes in that panoramic historical picture. Lives were touched and transformed for eternity during those more than 40 years. There is an unknown, uncovered story that we will have to wait to learn about and appreciate after we get to heaven. Only God knows the ultimate fruit of that time and place. We know enough from the Biblical record to give God glory and worship Him with praise and thanksgiving. This is one way we can enter into the story line and be a part of the greater panoramic perspective. That is a significant part of true worship. Praising and thanking God for what He did among His people during a particular time and place sensitizes us to notice what He is doing in our own lives and circumstances, and helps us know better how we might respond more appropriately to His guidance and prompting. That’s why Jesus told each of the seven churches in Revelation 2-3, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” If you listen carefully and follow what you hear you will overcome, and to all who overcome there is a promise given. If you have never joined the journey and you hear Jesus Christ knocking on the door of your heart, open up your life and invite Him in. He promises to come in and enter a relationship with you that will be an adventure you will never regret.
