We’ve been studying Mark 14 and discovered the kind of experiences we might encounter if we decide to go for broke in our walk with Jesus and work for Him. We saw in the life of Jesus how God encourages us. The anointing of Jesus with expensive perfume by the woman is a case in point. We also saw challenging it is to help others understand and integrate into their lives the vision you are committed to. When that process falls apart and you’re faced with going it alone, you might struggle with second guessing yourself. One thing you will find for sure is that the enemy is ready to redouble their efforts in not only opposing you, but also wiping you out. They will get support from many unlikely sources. Judas, one of Jesus’ disciples, betrayed Him. In verse 56 it says that “Many testified falsely against Him.” Then the religious authorities united in pronouncing judgment on Him. The waves of opposition relentlessly crashed in on Him with intensifying force. In the face of this overwhelming opposition by the enemy, Jesus stood firm in His resolve to fulfill His mission. He even upped the ante by declaring, “I am (whom you have questioned me to be)…And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven” (vs 62). That did it. There was no hedging or returning now, no matter what the enemy would throw at Him. His example is a challenge for each of us to go for broke in our commitment to God even though the journey might be tough.
