Now that we have considered the dynamic, danger and delight of God’s grace we need to understand the discipline needed to not set aside or fall away from the grace of God. Let me be clear here, however, that you not view this discipline as a legalistic means of meriting God’s grace.

God gave a promise to Abraham, not because he deserved it, but because God wanted to be gracious. Paul didn’t deserve to be called by God’s grace into the family of God and into the ministry of preaching the Gospel. He had persecuted the church right up to the time God called him. God doesn’t call anyone because they merit it. He calls them by grace and gives His grace to be received by faith.

The discipline associated with grace involves the following:

- Become as informed as possible about all God has made known of His grace. The Bible is the treasure-trove where you will find all God wants you to know about His grace. Read it, study it, and reflect on all you find about God’s grace.
- Then receive it by faith. How do you do this? Thank God for what He has shared about His grace. Tell Him that you accept it. Start the day by reminding yourself you are what you are by the grace of God. Tell God you surrender afresh to His control and are available to be used by Him
- Pray for help to recognize opportunities He brings your way. Then ask Him to work in and through you to make the most of those opportunities.
- Cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
- Give God the glory for whatever is accomplished.

May “the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.”
