In our last visit we began to do a 4S study of Ezekiel 2 & 3.  We spread out what is found in these chapters and then sorted it and structured it into an outline.

The title I gave this outline was, How to prepare for our God appointed assignments.  The four points we found were:

1. Eat the Word of God.
2. Enjoy the Word of God.
3. Exhort others with the Word of God.
4. Endure whatever opposition you might face from those whom you have exhorted with God’s Word.

When using this study approach the fourth S or step is to summarize what you have learned into some applications you can make to your own life.

The first application I would make to my own life is to eat God’s Word.  That is, take seriously the matter of reading and studying God’s Word.  This will take time and discipline.  Try to be regular in your reading and study.  Prayerfully try to understand what you read.

I can anticipate enjoying God’s Word when I apply myself to this discipline.  David agreed with Ezekiel’s comment of the Word of God being sweet to his taste.  David said it is sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.

Once you experience the joy of God’s Word enlightening and energizing your life you will likely want to exhort others with what you have learned.

When you do that they might not find God’s Word as enjoyable or desirable as you do.  In fact, they might reject you and your message and attack you.  Don’t let their reaction frighten you.  Endure it as a good soldier.  Be faithful.  Remember, God promises to be with you.
