In our last visit we began to look at the convincing human interactive experiences Jesus Christ provided first century Christians proving that He arose victorious from the grave and was very much alive. There are many accounts of His being seen by individuals in different settings during the 40 days between His resurrection and His ascension.

He appeared to Mary Magdalene, Peter, James and Paul. He also appeared to a group of women on their way from the empty tomb to tell the disciples. He appeared to the Emmaus disciples.  He appeared in a number of different settings to the disciples: Two times in a secured room and on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.

Paul lists some of these appearances in his first letter to the Corinthian church, chapter 15, and adds this remarkable fact, “He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have died.”

How many witnesses do you need to have sufficient proof that Jesus Christ did indeed arise from the dead? More than 500 saw Him alive at the same time! And if you still have questions, most of them are still alive, Paul declares. The doubters could go and ask these witnesses themselves.

In addition to seeing Him, He was heard by many, speaking words of comfort, rebuke, instruction, command, warning, encouragement, restoration and hope.

The record indicates that the women grasped His feet when He appeared to them and Thomas got to put his finger in His hand wounds and his hand in His side wound.

Yes, Jesus wanted all to believe He was alive. Do you believe?
